Relative Frequency Table Calculator
Enter categories and counts to create a semantic relative frequency table with percentages and cumulative totals.
Advanced: joint and conditional frequency
A two-way table can be converted to joint relative frequency by dividing each cell by the grand total, or to conditional relative frequency by dividing by its row or column total. Enter separate tables when those modes are needed.
Relative frequency formula
Relative frequency = category count ÷ total count. Percentage = relative frequency × 100. Cumulative columns add each row in the displayed order.
Worked example
Counts of 12, 8, and 5 have a total of 25. Their relative frequencies are 0.480, 0.320, and 0.200, or 48%, 32%, and 20%.
Assumptions
- Counts must be numeric, non-negative, and sum to more than zero.
- Categories are labels; duplicate labels are kept as separate rows.
- The generated table is a descriptive calculation, not an inference about a population.
